My Publications - An Introduction
Since I began to read I have been obsessed by language and the worlds of thought created by imagination. Trained as an English teacher, I taught English for nine years before the straitened situation of teachers in South Africa wore me down and I joined the happy bunch of computer coders in the world. Surprisingly the inherent process of creativity involved in computer programming was also satisfying. In all the dryness of business systems there is a juicy kernel of creativity and I was trapped but happy. I will write extensively about the world of software creation in another article.
My work as a wordsmith has taken me down many by-ways and I have begun several novels, movie scripts, radio plays and poetry as well as study material and reference manuals.
I invite you to explore my publications.
Tanith of Gold is a fantasy novel which is close to my heart and which has been long in the gestation.
The Litchi Seller is unusual in that I offer it as a film script. The subject matter is the dark world of human trafficking during which there is personal redemption and deep romance which survives the horror.
Sidney's Letters is a very personal project where I am publishing letters written home to his family by my great-grandfather from the years 1864 until 1899 from turbulent Natal, South Africa.
I invite you to read my writing. You will find the links on in the menu above.
My Attitude towards AI
My approach to ChatGPT is reflected in my pet name of ChatBuddy. I use it extensively for coding guidance. Recently I designed and wrote an application in Python which collates material in the form of text boxes and images, as well as text boxes with the result from AI research. I have also used it ChatGPT for image generation, with astounding results. The research sections for publication I have found extremely useful. I usually edit the florid, albeit correct, prose and write with my own style. It is, however, an incredible resource.
